 Capodieci of S. George

Mario Ambrogi Born on Octber 4, 1958, he currently resides in the neighborhood of the Parochial Church of Colonnata. He is a manager at STB (Transport Services of the A. Barbetti Cement factory), tel. 335-5749800.

He grew up in the Padule area and it was here that as a young boy his love for the S. George cero was forged. He was only 11 when he stole away on his brother's moped to take part in the Festa dei Ceri, fully aware that he would not get away with it when he got back home.
When he was 15, his points of reference for the Ceri were: Lili Nazzareno ("Nino del Conte"), Rodolfo Bedini ("Pipi de Ciaccione"), Alessandro Ragnacci ("Lallo o Duce"), Franco Fronduti ("Morrino"), the Micheletti brothers (Oscar, Nicola and Domenico), Adolfo Borio, Giacomo Ceccarelli and Alfiero Mengoni.
At the end of the '80's and the early '90's, he took over the integral role of advisor in the Family of Sangiorgiari.
Today, after having been a valiant cero bearer in the "Meli" pack from the age of 17, he carries the cero on the tract of Via XX Settembre.
Mario was elected Capodieci on January 12, 2003 by the General Assembly of the Ceraioli of S. George, held at the Arconi under Piazza Grande. 611 ceri bearers participated in the vote.
